How did you come to be doing the job you are doing today?
After 25 years in the banking industry, I took a leap of faith to pursue my entrepreneurial ambition and established Be Inspired To Be® — a brand dedicated to leadership, wellbeing, business support and professional development. My Be Inspired To Be book of daily inspiration was published in December 2021 and laid the foundation for my work. All the roles I now fulfil – the leadership development programmes and workshops I design, the events I host, the executives I coach, the words I write – are all aligned to my passion, which is inspiring authentic, values-driven leadership, and empowering individuals and organisations to realise their potential with confidence, courage and compassion.
What is the highlight of your working week?
The variety of work I get the opportunity to engage in. No two days are the same and I love that!
If you weren’t doing this job, what would you like to do?
I’m blessed, at 48 years old, to be exactly where I’m meant to be, following my passion and, I believe, fulfilling my purpose.
If you could offer a piece of advice to your 18-year-old self, what would it be?
Silence the doubt, believe in your uniqueness, trust the process and move fearlessly forwards.
What is your favourite time of year – and why?
Christmas, without a doubt! It’s a season of light, reflection and gratitude – a time to pause, celebrate achievements and connect with those closest to you.
How do you feel to be nominated for the Institute Advocate of the Year award?
I’m deeply honoured. My collaboration with the Institute has been such a meaningful part of my entrepreneurial journey — sharing insights through writing the leadership book reviews and hosting the online events on behalf of the Institute has been remarkably rewarding. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting an array of inspirational leaders from across the world and I’m beyond grateful for every interaction and conversation. To receive this nomination is humbling. Best wishes to all award nominees – I’m delighted to be among such inspirational people.
The IoL Leadership Awards take place on 14 November at Hilton London Bankside. Read more about Institute Advocate of the Year finalists.
